Scalable chat application for smartphones [on hold]
I want to build a highly scalable chat application for smartphones. After
reading a lot on internet, I am able to narrow down to erlang and nodejs
for server side programming. I know javascript well but yet to learn
erlang. If I use nodejs, i will be ready in 2 weeks. On the other hand
erlang may take 2-3 months for production. erlang has been used by
facebook chat and whatsapp. These products are similar to mine. I am not
sure if nodejs can perform at/above par with erlang. Is it possible to
make initial version using nodejs and shift to erlang later on if nodejs
does not scale ? And all those users who are usingnodejs version app and
did not upgraded to erlang version app , can they still be supported ?
